For beliefs that aren’t metaphysically or ethically significant, I generally pick whatever’s most fun to believe. I don’t think the earth being round or flat inherently has either ethical or metaphysical ramifications (that is to say, I think I can believe basically everything I do now in every domain other than the scientific regardless of how the earth looks. If the earth really was flat, the center of gravity would be at the north pole. And as we move towards the south pole, it gets harder and harder as if we were going uphill.
