If the earth was flat why on flat maps are all the countries further away from the equator bigger then they actually are? “https://reddit.com/r/FlatEarthIsReal/comments/1embf3u/i_have_a_question_to_all_of_you_flat_earthers/”>View Reddit by Dogener – View Source
Flat earth is not real, gravity is what is keeping our planet together(and the water from falling off) if anything, if earth was flat, we would all die due to gravity stretching us apart to where we eventually break, besides, where would the core that heats up volcanoes go? “https://reddit.com/r/FlatEarthIsReal/comments/1em0xxd/flat_earth_is_not_real_gravity_is_what_is_keeping/”>View Reddit by [deleted] – View Source

You set your telescope, find the object, adjust the focus, and it's there. Then you call a friend to show them the object, but when you return to the telescope the object is gone and you have to find it again. Equatorial mounts were created to mitigate this problem by simplifying the process of re-centering the telescope in the object by just slightly turning a single rotating handle. So why does this work and how does this relate to…
Like I said I’m rapidly increasing my full believe in our earthly design. Naturally I still find some stuff I’m confused about. My question is in Australia. They set their borders on the 129th meridian running vertical but when the lines met, they were off by 2 miles. What is the error? Or how does this work? “https://reddit.com/r/FlatEarthIsReal/comments/1elm3s8/im_rapidly_starting_to_believe_i_gave_a_question/”>View Reddit by [deleted] – View Source
For most people, being described as a “flat Earther” is an insult. The idea of the Earth being flat is considered not only wrong, but a model of wrongness, the gold standard of being incorrect about something. This being so, oddly enough, most people described pejoratively as “flat Earthers” do not actually believe that the Earth is flat. “Flat Earther” is simply a scientifically seasoned variation of “idiot”. For a recent example, US President Barack Obama recently expressed impatience with the persistent objections put forward by climate change deniers by saying: “We don’t have time for a meeting of the…
Belief in a flat Earth seems a bit like the attempt to eradicate polio – just when you think it’s gone, a pocket of resistance appears. But the “flat Earthers” have always been with us; it’s just that they usually operate under the radar of public awareness. Now the rapper B.o.B has given the idea prominence through his tweets and the release of his single Flatline, in which he not only says the Earth is flat, but mixes in a slew of other weird and wonderful ideas. These include the notions that the world is controlled by lizard people, that…
Could 2,000 years of belief be wrong? Are we in fact living on a disc rather than a globe? One believer from the Flat Earth Society is determined to find out. “Mad” Mike Hughes is all set to build his own rocket to see for himself that the Earth is flat. For the last 50 years, we’ve been able to view pictures of the Earth from space, which might seem like all the proof you need to see that our planet is in fact round. But the awareness of how easily images can be doctored and the growth of internet…
Thinking that the earth might be flat appears to have grown in popularity in recent years. Indeed, flat earthers are gathering for their annual conference this year in Birmingham, just two miles from my own university. But the earth isn’t flat. Unsurprisingly, this isn’t hard to prove. But as scads of YouTube videos demonstrate, these proofs fail to convince everyone. A glance at the comments show there’s still vitriolic disagreement in some quarters. Philosophy can explain why. Consider one, standard, flat earth line: “Can you prove the world is round?” Maybe you point to the (often artificially assembled) photos of…
Speakers recently flew in from around (or perhaps, across?) the earth for a three-day event held in Birmingham: the UK’s first ever public Flat Earth Convention. It was well attended, and wasn’t just three days of speeches and YouTube clips (though, granted, there was a lot of this). There was also a lot of team-building, networking, debating, workshops – and scientific experiments. Yes, flat earthers do seem to place a lot of emphasis and priority on scientific methods and, in particular, on observable facts. The weekend in no small part revolved around discussing and debating science, with lots of time…
Flat Earthism and the idea that human activity is not responsible for climate change are two of the most prevalent conspiracy theories today. Both have been increasing in popularity since the late 20th century. Currently, 16% of the US population say they doubt the scientifically established shape of the Earth, while 40% think that human-induced climate change is a hoax. But proponents of one of these theories are not necessarily proponents of the other, even though both are often motivated by a common mistrust of authority. In fact, they regularly contradict one another. Flat Earthers, for example, tend to disbelieve…
