Simple scaled experiment you can do at home.

Notice how when the ball rotates away from the camera, the bottom of the dart, the black tip, disappears first, the the remainder of the dart. This is the “ship” over the horizon. You don’t need a microscopic ship to scale for perspective. Same principal applies to a 6” diameter pokeball to a 7927 mile diameter planet. I’m will give the flat earth community one win though. The earth is flatter north to south than east to west… by ~20 miles.
